Taylor ( Shadrack’s Tailor Made for Longship )won her 15-18 month sweepstakes class and then the next day went on for a second place in the open show.

 


August 24, 2014

 

Brady (GCH Longship’s New England Patriot, DD ) is now officially retire as a special. He will be at regionals as a veteran. His last shows as a special were in Ballston Spa. The last four shows he was select dog all four days. Brady did it his way and went on top. We are very proud to have a show dog of Brady’s quality. To us he kept redefining himself as he did he kept putting up the wins. A very nice boy in the ring and at home.

Skylar (CH Longship’s I Am No Mrs. White) won two major at Ballston Spa and now she is a champion. She won four major in her quest for her championship and did it in style. She only went out four weekends.

June 10, 11, 12, and 13, 2010:

Joanne took Brady (Ch Longships New England Patriot) to the St. Francis shows in Brome Que. The following are the results of the Weekend:

  • There were two shows on Thursday. In the morning show, he placed second in the working group under judge Peter Machem.
  • In the afternoon he was second again in the working group under judge Fred Heal.
  • Friday, he did not place in working group under judge David Paterson.
  • Saturday, Brady placed first in the working group and went on to BEST IN SHOW! On this date he became a Canadian Champion under judge Judi Shurb.
  • On Sunday he showed as a special and placed third in the working group under judge Len Hartfield.

National Specialty, Frankenmuth, MI, May 2010:

Riggs (Ch Milano N Longship LethalWeapon) took second place in the Working Dog Class (Show photo posted). Riggs has placed in all three Nationals that he has shown. He was first place Novice Dog in 2006 in Cumberland, MD, and third place in Open Dog in 2007 in Boulder, CO.

December 6, 2009 :

Scout (Longships Indian Scout) was Winners Bitch and Best Opposite for a 3-point Major at the Eastern Dog Club in Providence, RI, which completed her AKC Championship. Handled by Joanne Brainard.

On that same day, at the Colonial Club draft test in Virginia under judges Todd Bennett and Barbara Jeness, Riggs(Am/Can Ch Milano N Longship LethalWeapon) successfully passed his draft test to earn the title of Draft Dog Handled by John.

 


September 25, 2009 :

Scout (Longships Indian Scout) was Winners Bitch and Best of Winners for a 3-point Major at the Kanadasaga Kennel Club of New York. Handled by Joanne Brainard.

 


September 6, 2009 :

Neeka (Am/Can Ch Longship’s Tidal Wave) completed her qualifications for the title of Versatile Newfoundland! Congratulations to Neeka and Lorna Fortune for their hard work.

Cassie (Longship’s Play It Again Sam) completed her AKC championship with two Major wins on Saturday under judge Pat Laurans and on Sunday under judge Gary Bassett.  Handled by Joanne Brainard.

 


Springfield, MA, July 3, 2009 :

At the Kenilworth Kennel Club, Judge Janet Sinclair recognized Gemi’s (Longship’s Gemini Dream) quality and placed her as Winners Bitch and Best of Winners which completed her AKC championship. Show photos are posted.

 


Brome, Quebec, June, 13, 2009 :

Riggs (Ch Milano N Longship LethalWeapon) won the breed and then went on for a group third which completed his Canadian Championship. We are proud to introduce AM/CAN CH Milano N Longship Lethal Weapon. Riggs continues to love to show and was owner handled by John.

 


North Shore Kennel Club, June 12, 2009 :

Brady (Longships New England Patriot) was best of winners for his last point toward his AKC championship under judge Frank McCartha. Brady was expertly handled by co-owner Joanne Brainard. Brady went to the show needing one point to go with his three majors.

 


Canadian National Newfoundland Specialty, May 23, 2009 :

Brady (Longships New England Patriot) was second in the very competitive Open Dog class. Gemi (Longship’s Gemini Dream) was third in the Open Bitch class. Riggs (Ch Milano N Longship LethalWeapon) won the Canadian Bred class. Bella (Longships Belle of the Ball) won the Bred By class. Overall, a very successful Specialty for Longship Newfoundlands.

 


Harrisburg, PA Shows, April 10, 11, and 12, 2009 :

Brady (Longships New England Patriot) earned 14 points at these Regional Speciality and Supported Entry shows. On Friday at the Chambersburg Area Kennel Club Show, he was Best Puppy in Sweeps and Winners Dog under Judge Mrs Sulie Greendale Paveza. On Saturday, he was Best Puppy in Sweeps and Winners Dog / Best of Winners under Judge Mr. James Taylor. On Sunday, he was Best Puppy in Sweeps and Winners Dog / Best of Winners under Judge Mr. Lawrence J. Sinclair. Show photos are posted.

Bella (Longships Belle of the Ball) was Winners Bitch and Best of Opposite on Saturday for a 3-point major and again on Sunday for 2 points. Show pictures are posted.

South Windsor Kennel Club, November 22, 2008 :

Under Judge Robert Moore, Gemi (Longship’s Gemini Dream) was Best Opposite for her second major. She now has a 4 point major and 3 point major. She showed very nicely, and we are very proud of her.

 


Wine Country Shows, September 25, 26, 27, and 28, 2008 :

On Thursday’s show, hosted by the Kanadasaga Kennel Club, Bella (Longships Belle of the Ball) won the 9-12 month puppy bitch class; Gemi (Longship’s Gemini Dream) was Best of Winners for a 4-point major in her first show ever; Pepper (Shadrack’s Great Expectations) was Best of Opposite. On Saturday at the Regional Specialty Show, Brady (Longships New England Patriot) was Best in Sweeps under judge Cathy Derench. He also won his class in the open show. Bella (Longships Belle of the Ball) won the 9-12 month puppy bitch class. Gemi (Longship’s Gemini Dream) was Reserve Winner’s Bitch at the Regional Specialty.

 


Ballston Spa Shows, August 8, 9, and 10, 2008 :

We entered 4 bitches at this event. On Friday at the Mohawk Valley Kennel Club Show, Pepper (Shadrack’s Great Expectations) was Best of Opposite. Tara (Longship’s Gone with the Wind) was Winners Bitch and Best of Winners for a 4 point major. Scout (Longships Indian Scout) won her Am Bred class. Bella (Longships Belle of the Ball) won her 9-12 month puppy class and was Best Newf Puppy.

 


On Saturday at the Southern Adirondack Dog Club Show,

Pepper was Best of Opposite. Tara was Winner’s Bitch and Best of Winners for another 4 point major to complete her AKC championship. Scout won her Am Bred class and went on to Reserve Winner’s Bitch. Bella won her 9-12 month puppy class.

 


On Sunday at the Bennington Kennel Club,

Pepper was Best of Breed. She made the final cut in the group but did not place. Bella won her 9-2 month puppy class.

 


Vermont Scenic Cluster, July 11, 12, & 13, 2008 :

Longship dogs had a successful turnout at this 3-day event. On Friday, Tara (Longship’s Gone with the Wind) was Winners Bitch and Best of Opposite for a 4-point major. On Saturday, Tara was Reserve Winners Bitch and Pepper (Shadrack’s Great Expectations) was Best of Opposite against the Best in Show Dog. On Sunday, Tara was Winners Bitch and Best of Winners for a 3-point major. Pepper was Best of Opposite and Bella (Longships Belle of the Ball) was Reserve Winners Bitch. July 6, 2008 :

Pepper (Shadrack’s Great Expectations) finished her AKC championship with Winners Bitch/Best of Winners/Best of Breed over two special dogs and a special bitch for a 4 point major at the Holyoke Kennel Club show in Springfield, MA. Special thanks to Joanne Brainard who expertly handled Pepper for all of her points. We are also forever grateful to Steve and Jean McAdams for breeding this lovely girl.

 


May 8, 2008 :

Our beautiful girl, Indy (Am/Can Ch Milano N Bearbrook at Longship), died unexpectedly today. It’s been quite a shock, and we cannot even begin to express our sadness at her loss. She was a tremendous bitch and we hope to see her qualities mature in her offspring, Bella and Brady.

 


National Specialty, Warwick, RI, April 28 through May 3, 2008:

This year, we brought five of our own dogs (Riggs, Tara, Pepper, Scout, Brady, and Bella) to the National Specialty. We also had three of our co-own dogs entered (Ethan, Cassie, and Radisson). Bella and Brady won their classes in the Puppy Sweepstakes. Pepper placed third in the Open Bitch Class. Cassie placed second in the AOC Class. Neeka (Ch. Longship Tidal Wave) placed second in the Working Bitch Class.

February 1,2,3, 2008 :

Pepper (Shadrack’s Great Expectations) had a very successful weekend at the Queensbury, NY, shows. Three different judges could see how well she represents the breed. Her smooth side gait and terrific attitude help make her one of the stand outs for all three shows. She was Winners Bitch each day. To date, Pepper has 8 points and is well on her way to being a champion.

 


October 24, 2007 :

Ballston Spa, NY: Riggs (Milano N Longship LethalWeapon) was Winners Dog and Best of Winners on Friday for a 3-point major under Judge Jean Fournier, Winners Dog on Saturday for 2 points under Judge Carolyn Thomas, and Winners Dog and Best of Winners on Sunday for a second 3-point major under Judge Jeffery Bazell.

 


National Specialty, Boulder, CO, April 29 through May 5, 2007:

We had an exciting (and long) trip to the National Show this year in Boulder, CO. We brought four of our dogs (Riggs, Scout, Tara, and Pepper) and four dogs we co-own with others (Ethan, Cassie, Stormy, and Radisson). Out of the eight classes entered, six of these dogs had placements at third and fourth against some very tough competitors. September 16, 2006 :

Neeka (Ch. Longship Tidal Wave) earned her junior water title of WD (Water Dog) She passed her test well under the time for each exercise at the 2-day Bear Mountain Newf Club water tests. Neeka also earned 2 legs toward her Rally Novice title this summer at the Vermont Scenic Cluster shows held in Essex Junction, VT. Handled and trained by Lorna Fortune.

March 2006, Newfoundland National Specialty Show, Cumberland, MD :

It was a beautiful week for the Newf Specialty at the Rocky Gap Resort in the mountains of western Maryland. We are very proud of all our dogs that performed well in the ring. Additional praise goes to Riggs (Milano N Longship LethalWeapon) who was first in his class of Novice Dogs with 9 entries. Pepper (Shadracks Great Expectations) placed 3rd in the 6 to 9 Mo puppy bitch class with 42 entries. Kosmo (Dream Time for Shadow’s Eternity) placed 3rd in the 12 to 18 Mo. puppy dog class with 21 entries.

 


March 18 & 19, 2006 :

At the Connecticut River Working Dog Association Shows, Tara (Longship’s Gone with the Wind) was Best Newfoundland Puppy in the open show on Saturday. On Sunday, Pepper (Shadrack’s Great Expectations) was Best Opposite in Sweeps and Best Puppy in Show & Reserve Winner’s Bitch in the open show.

 


November 25, 2005 :

Neeka (Ch. Longship Tidal Wave) earned her CD title in Novice B handled and trained by Lorna Fortune. Congratulations to both of them!

 


November 18, 2005  :

November 11-14, 2004 :

Syracuse, NY. Neeka (Longship Tidal Wave) takes Winner’s Bitch and Best of Opposite on Thursday, Reserve Winner’s Bitch on Friday, and Winner’s Bitch, Best of Winner’s and Best of Opposite on Sunday. She now has a total of 7 points towards her championship!

 


October 22-23, 2004 :

Delaware, Ohio. Annie (Longship Tugboat Annie) takes Winner’s Bitch on Friday for 2 points and Winner’s Bitch and Best of Winners on Saturday for a 3-point major! She now has 12 points!


October 21, 2004 :

Very sad news today. Blinken (Bearbrooks Blink of ‘N Eye) died after a valiant battle with cancer. She was 11 years 4 months old. We will miss her terribly. Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 


October 8-9, 2004 :

Longship’s Wave Runner (“Logan”) won WD/BOW/BOB and a Group 2 at the Hochelaga Kennel Club in Montreal, Canada for his first 5 pts towards his Can. Ch. (Logan was handled by Wheatley) On Sunday, Indy won WB/BOW/BOB and a Group 2 for 5 pts. Indy needs just 1 more point in Canada to finish. Indy was owner handled by John. April 22-25, 2003 :

At the Newfoundland National Specialty in Ellicottville, NY: Indy won 2nd place in 12-15 month sweeps in a class of 20 bitches. Indy then won 2nd place in the 12-18 month class with 29 other bitches present!! Longship’s Tidal Wave “Neeka” placed 3rd in the 6-9 puppy class with an entry of over 20 bitches! We had a great national! Thanks to Kathy Kalos and Karen Friedman for their expert grooming and handling!
We have added two new babies to our family, Cinder and Rio. Rio is co-owned and lives with Karen Friedman of Culpepper Newfoundlands. More information and pictures will be coming soon!

 


April 6, 2003 :

Arrow’s mom, Dixie, is now known as CH Gatsby’s Deliberate Diva. She won her last major today at the Great Barrington Kennel Club show in Troy, NY! She’ll be going back to Indiana to be with her mom Marsha at the end of the month. Many thanks to Kathy Kalos and Karen Friedman for their expertise in handling and grooming her!

 


March 30, 2003 :

We had a good weekend in Syracuse New York. Indy and John won a 4 point major from the 9-12 month puppy class and Arrow won yet another major reserve to her younger half sister! Arrow’s mom, Dixie, won a 3 point major and just needs one more to get her American Championship.

At her first two shows at 6 months of age, Longship’s Tidal Wave “Arnica” (our Scarlet’s sister out of Ch Shadrack’s Midnight Spirit CD and Longship’s Tugboat Annie) won Reserve Winners Bitch in an entry of 8 other females on the second day! Picture soon to follow

August 16, 2002 :

Annie and “Buda” (Ch Shadrack’s Midnite Spirit CD DD WD) had 10 healthy puppies on August 5, 2002! 5 girls and 5 boys! Pictures are located on the Litters page. All of the puppies have wonderful homes lined up.

 


June 23, 2002 :

New pictures added to Indy’s site. Arrow won RWB on Friday and Saturday and won WB/BOW/BOS on Sunday for 1 point at the Topsfield, MA shows.

We’re back from the National and we’ve added new photos and some news to Arrow and Dixie’s pages. April 11, 2002 :

Lola’s championship photo is now up on her site. Thanks goes out to Brian Still and Rebecca Carner for doing such a wonderful job with our girl and taking such good care of her when she was away from home!!

 


April 6-7, 2002 :

Annie won WB/BOB on Sunday over a special at the Sherbrooke, PQ shows this weekend for her first Canadian point with John. At the Troy NY shows, Arrow and Wheatley won RWB to a 3 point major from the puppy classes on Saturday.

 


March 28 2002 :

We are pleased to announce that Lola is now Am/Can Ch Longship’s Cherry Cola Lola. She finished her American championship today in Syracuse, NY with Brian Still for her second major! Lola will be seeing the obedience ring next with Elaine on the other end of the leash for her CD title.

 


March 18 2002 :

BIG NEWS FOR ARROW!!
Arrow (Longship’s Right On Target) won WB/BOW for a 5 point major at the CT River Working Dog Assoc. show on Saturday at just 10 months of age, owner handled!!!! There was a nice entry there and we were quite happy and surprised! She also won Best Puppy and in Puppy group she made the final cut!

On Sunday she won Best of Opposite Sex in Sweepstakes!!

Lola won WB/BOS to get a 3 point major, to get her up to 13 points while out with Brian Still and Rebecca Carner. She just needs one more major to finish! New pictures of her will be up soon.

October 7 2001 :

At the Newfoundland Club of New England’s match show, Arrow, at the tender age of 4.5 months, wins another BOS puppy over an entry of approximately 19 other female puppies (ranging in age from 3 months to 18 months!!) Not to be out-done by her 2nd cousin, Annie wins BOS Adult over a nice entry of adult bitches!! We are very pleased with our newest shining stars!!

 


October 5-7 2001 :

Lola wins 3 more points to total 9 points towards her American Ch., now she just needs majors!
